university of arizona highland commons

The
University of Arizona Highland Commons brings together two diverse
programs, Campus Health Services, which includes Counseling and
Psychological Services, and the Disability Resource Center. One
of the primary goals of the design is to provide a separate identity
for the Disability Resource Center from the medical services components
of the building program. A three-story glass gallery serves not
only as a grand entry to the facility, but also as a display space
for various outreach programs provided by the departments housed
in the building. This element helps to draw the campus community
into the landscaped courtyard at the heart of the facility which
serves as an active gathering space for students, faculty, and
staff. The Highland Commons is one of several new projects planned
for this area of the University as a part of the master plan developed
by Swaim Associates.
