This four block master plan on the University of Arizona campus includes over 750,000 s.f. of medical, residential, retail, academic and administrative facilities. Following the principles of New Urbanism, the Highland District Master Plan promotes increased building density to maximize the use of valuable building sites while providing passageways and gathering spaces that address the need for a human scaled environment. The master plan is organized around an open central quadrangle that provides a necessary area of relief from the dense architecture as well as an activity space for the residents of the Highland District and the university community.
