Christina Abrams

Christina joined Swaim Associates in 2016. She graduated from the University of Arizona in 2017 with a BA in Architecture. She has been involved with educational, and medical projects since then. If you are not able to get a hold of her, she might be off hiking a trail somewhere.

Michael Becherer, AIA, LEED AP

Michael graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1993 with a Bachelors of Architecture. After owning and managing a small design/build firm in Central Kentucky from 1994-1997 Michael began practicing architecture in 1998 becoming registered in 2005. Michael has focused primarily on public work for most of his career, completing a wide range of projects from Higher Education, Public Safety, Public Works, and Worship. Michael spends some of his spare time giving back to the community by serving on several boards and commissions including the Southern Arizona Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, the Cornerstone Building Foundation, and Old Pueblo Community Services. Michael is also the Mayor’s appointee to the Tucson/Pima County Historical Commission and is a member of the TPCHC’s Plans Review Sub-Committee.

Tricia Chuba

Tricia is an administrative assistant and marketing guru. She graduated from Pima College with an Associate Degree in Graphic Design and Illustration. When she isn’t busy with RFPs at Swaim she likes to get creative with paper, stamps, ink and paint.  Let’s just say her cards are way better than Hallmark.

Eric Fike

Eric is a project coordinator. He graduated from Pima College with an Associate Degree in architectural drafting and  technology. In his spare time he likes to race and tinker with radio controlled cars. Originally from Oklahoma, but has been in Tucson since 1978 so he considers himself a transplanted native.

Mark Foyt

Mark was born and raised in Tucson, AZ. He graduated from ITT Technical Institute with an Associates Degree in Specialized Technology. He started out with hand drafting, moved to Autocad and is now using Revit, a BIM program for the last 11 years. He has worked on the Biosphere II project, Desert Diamond Casino II on Pima Mine Road, various commercial projects and various medical facilities and medical tenant improvements. He has worked on projects in various cities around Arizona and Texas. Phoenix, Payson, Safford, Bullhead City, Lubbock and Amarillo to name a few. He is a project coordinator and plans to use Revit to its fullest potential. On his off time, he likes camping, zip lines, and aerial adventure parks. His favorite zip line is in Ruidoso, NM. It is nearly a mile long.

Hunter Groce

Hunter is a new native to Tucson. He graduated from ITT Technical Institute with an Associates Degree in Computer Aided Drafting. He has experience in a variety of projects including retail/commercial, healthcare, and hospitality. His involvement in projects has varied from presentation and graphics, to full development of projects from start to finish. He is also responsible for the BIM standards development, implementation, and enforcement. Hunter takes pride in his work and is always researching new technology that will enhance Swaim’s growth for the future. When Hunter isn’t working you’ll usually find him playing in a heated tennis match.

Becky Johnson

Becky graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Architecture in 2006. Since that time, she has been involved in a wide range of project types including schools, retail, and senior living facilities. In addition, Becky is skilled in both graphic design and 3D design programs and is a valued member of our BIM team. Having grown up in the Tucson construction industry, Becky possesses a well-rounded perspective of the field of architecture and design. That, and she can give us the inside scoop on the contractors that we work with!

Jason Kosmicki

Jason received his Bachelor of Architecture in 2011 from the University of Arizona. Since then, his expertise in BIM programming has caused Revit to slowly morph into the appendage formerly known as his right hand. Lucky for us this, and his diagnosis of “car crazy”, has not landed him in an institution (yet); he is still surviving through the support of his wife and son. He has worked on school additions and improvements, medical facilities, various tenant improvements, and the 9-story Unisource building.

Timothy Smith, AIA

Tim graduated from the University of Arizona in 2002 with a Bachelor of Architecture and became a registered architect in 2009. Tim has been with us since graduating and has managed a wide range of project types including public recreation facilities, commercial office buildings, churches, military facilities, and schools. He has also been involved in many of our LEED projects and is an expert in the process.

Julie Stewart, AIA

Julie, a recent California transplant, graduated from the University of New Mexico with a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture. After graduation she headed to the Bay Area where she worked for some the nation’s largest architecture firms. While there she was sent abroad for 3 years to Doha, Qatar, where she fell in love with the construction administration phase of architecture. Most recently she owned and managed her own firm focusing on residential work. She is a licensed architect in both California and Arizona. When not working she enjoys hiking, yoga, and cruising around in her 1968 Buick Riviera.

Emanuel Torres

Emanuel graduated in 1995 from the University of Sinaloa with a Bachelor of Architecture and in 2001 from the University of Arizona with a Master in Landscape Architecture. Since joining our team in 2010, Emanuel has worked mostly on educational projects, taking our BIM software to the edge. An avid reader and coffee geek, he can direct you to the best local coffee shops around town.

Laura Vertes, AIA, LEED AP

Laura graduated from the University of Arizona in 2003 with a Bachelor of Architecture and became a registered architect in 2009. With a minor in Classical Civilizations, she brings both class and civility to the firm which is desperately needed at times. Laura manages a wide range of project types, including medical facilities and office buildings, and is at the forefront of our BIM software program.

Jim Wright

Jim graduated from the University of Arizona in 2016 with a Bachelor of Architecture and a master’s degree in Architecture with an emphasis on Energy Efficient Design and Conservation.  He grew up in Spain, lived in several states and countries and travelled to many more.  When not honing drafting and designing skills, he is passionate about cooking (and eating) and loves to ride his bicycle into the Arizona sunset with a smile on his face.

Lisa Zeno, CDA

Lisa was born in New York and, of course, is Yankees fan.  She graduated in 1998 from the University of Phoenix with a Bachelor in Business Administration and is a Certified Design Accountant, specializing in Architecture, Engineering, and Construction.  Being in this field since God created dirt, the three disciplines have given her an understanding of accounting from all perspectives.  When not watching over the accounting activities at Swaim, Lisa is working on her bucket list.  Who doesn’t want to learn to slide across the hood of a car?
